movies movies movies

It's no secret that one of my favorite hobbies is hitting up double features at the movie theater by myself. And that was exactly my plan last night. Movie #1: "Blue Valentine". Movie #2: "The Fighter". Long story short, I found one of the last seats in the theater and snuggled in with some sour watermelons for what I knew would be an amazing movie (see "Blue Valentine" trailer below). My anticipation rooted partly because of my long standing crush on Ryan Gosling (thank you "Notebook") but also from all the raving reviews I've heard around the office. My expectations were more than exceeded. I loved the movie. I had to pull my mind out of it a couple times, only because you find yourself relating a little too much and forgetting that it's a movie and not something you're personally experiencing. Although we all have, in some shape or form, been through a fairytale followed by heartbreak so that's my excuse for getting so wrapped up in the film. The last minutes of the movie are gut wrenching and simply devastating. You find yourself lost in an ugly cry and I made a rookie mistake and forgot tissues. Luckily when the film abruptly ends, they leave the lights off in the theater for a bit so you can attempt to compose yourself before having to face daylight. To make matters worse, the movie breaks your heart so after I collected myself enough to get out of the seat, I made an executive decision to head home instead of executing my double feature plan. So I didn't see "The Fighter" but I plan on going tonight...hopefully.

Go see "Blue Valentine". It's beautiful.
