Colorado experienced a hefty snowfall this weekend and to call it beautiful would be a drastic understatement. On life's list of top 5's, I think those moments when you see a thick, gorgeous white snowfall outside while you're warm and cozy indoors with a glass of wine definitely comes close to first place. I know the picture above doesn't do my description much justice but we were without a camera and only had an iPhone in hand so we had to make do. This was taken at about 1AM after Jason and I spent the evening with his friend Ryan at a local watering hole (aka bar). We'd spent the first half of the evening devouring pizza and microbrews while attempting to play a legitimate game of pool. In case you and I have yet to play a game of pool together, let me save myself some embarrassment and tell you that I'm horrible at pool. Horrible. So refrain from extending and invite my way cause you'll only be wasting your time. We continued the evening with more bar games, beers, and stories then topped the evening off with $1 tacos at the Mexican cafe across the street. Mmm...yum.
The best part of the weekend came before our evening out on the town. Jason and I spent the first half of Saturday roaming from table to table at the....drum roll please....DENVER CHEESE FEST!!!!! Yes I know you just judged me and probably called me a couple inappropriate names in your head but you're just jealous cause you didn't eat a brick of cheese like I did in less than an hour. For anyone who knows me you understand my deep LOVE for cheese. It's one of those "If you were on an island and could only eat one thing, what would it be" situations. My answer is always cheese.
We woke up Sunday to more snowflakes and cold weather. After peeling myself out of the warm bed, I committed to being motivated and walked past the couch that was screaming my name and instead, we headed out the door to a local restaurant to watch the Bronco's game. They lost (for the second week in a row) but I wasn't too concered with the score of the game and instead had my eyes focused on the bloody mary bar that this local hot spot was so famous for. I can't even begin to describe the gloriousness of this bloody mary bar. We're talkin blue cheese stuffed olives, sticks of pepperjack cheese, asparagus, fresh horseradish, pepperoni, celery stalks, pickles, and much much more. Amazing.
Afterwards we headed back to Boulder just in time for a concert at the Boulder Theater. Imogen Heap was opening for a local musician that I've mentioned on my blog before by the name of Gregory Alan Isakov. In all honesty I gotta admit that Imogen Heap stole the show. She's a one man band with about 50 different electronic instruments surrounding her. As her songs go on, she jumps from device to device creating essentially an orchestra out of technology. Amazing to see and easy on the ears. Don't get me wrong, "GAI" was great but the quirkiness of Imogen Heap was quite intriguing and refreshing to listen to.
The weekend was amazing. I had such an great time and packed the weekend with activities yet managed to get plenty of relaxation time. Until next week.
