valentines

oh man, what a weekend. I say that as if it was exhausting but it was quite the opposite in fact. wonderfully relaxing and pretty much perfect, top to bottom. Friday night I had a night out with my good friend Catherine, something we haven't done in WAY too long but the evening was complimented with great food and a bottle of wine and lots of catching up.

the next morning I headed down to denver to spend the weekend with jason. he greeted me with a big grin on his face and a rose in hand, guess you had to be there but it was pretty damn cute. we went to the movies to see "Crazy Heart" starring Jeff Bridges. such a great movie. if you haven't seen it yet then do so, it had a great soundtrack and Jeff Bridges did all the performances in the movie. I was pretty surprised by how much I enjoyed it, definitely my recommendation to you.

that evening we headed downtown to an art gallery/bar for a cruiser bike silent auction event. we walked out empty handed with money still in our wallets so I consider that a success.

I cooked jason breakfast Sunday morning. Captain Crunch crusted French toast w/ whip cream, strawberries & sausage patties. yummm...what a sugar rush. after a good hour of digesting, we pulled ourselves off the couch and drove over to this Asian market center in West Denver. it was such a great place! fresh seafood, amazing bakery's, delicious snacks and lots and lots of Chinese candy that I've become a huge fan of. we picked up some lobster, steaks and veggies at the market then headed home and cooked up a storm for dinner. the evening also included a movie marathon featuring "Amalie", "The Ugly Truth", and "The Never Ending Story". Yes, "the never ending story" is quite random and the reasoning behind that selection was tequila. and wine. and beer. Needless to say, I woke up on Monday with a terrible hangover that could only be cured by a Goodtimes burger and fries. I was absolutely miserable until the afternoon when Jason dragged me outside for a run which amazingly enough, cured the horrible hangover. whew...when will I ever learn. DON'T DRINK TEQUILA. Nothing good ever comes from a night of Tequila.

and now for the highlight of the weekend. my valentine's day gift from Jason. I knew that he had something in the works these past few weeks but i was beyond surprised when he opened his closet and pulled out this awesome, sign that he'd designed/built. The picture below is a little dark but I hung the sign in my bedroom and it looks awesome. I love it!
