So it's no secret that I had a few visitors this past weekend and I have the dirty laundry and messy bathroom to prove it. Pretty sure that one of my least favorite things about Colorado is it's hatred for Michiganders. Every time they make the trip out here, mother nature throws the middle finger our way and leaves us with rainy days and cloudy nights. I was a little unsure how to keep Alyssa, Jessica, and Brianne entertained this weekend but luckily they're an easy crowd and alcohol goes a long way. We started the weekend off a little slow and kicked back Thursday night with some pizza and quality TV programming. It was torture getting them to stay up until 10PM but we'll chalk that up to jet lag and a little altitude. We took it up a notch Friday night and ventured to this restaurant in Boulder called The Rio. It's a Mexican joint downtown known for their extremely strong margaritas that lead to nothing but bad decisions and blackouts. Luckily we cut ourselves off after 1 margarita and called it a night. We started Saturday off on a good note and drove downtown to Denver for brunch at this little place called the "Bump n' Grind". The name pretty much tells all but essentially it's a hole in wall breakfast joint filled with trannies in mini skirts that serve you breakfast with a side of inappropriate comments and x-rated conversation. I can feel you judging but don't knock it till you try it. We had a blast.
We whooped it up Saturday night and attempted to hit all of Boulder's finest dive bars. A few of the highlights include Brianne and Jessica winning their first sporting competition ever. Foosball. Against Alyssa and I. It's hard to admit that it happened but I'm going to continue to blame our poor athletic performance on the tequila shot that Alyssa and I took down as the first ball was dropped. I then proceeded to loose my cell phone (aka "my life") shortly after so I'll go ahead and blame the tequila shot for that misfortune as well. There are plenty more stories to tell but my Grandma reads this blog so I'll stop while I'm ahead.
Sunday was a laid back afternoon thanks to our unwanted hangovers so we opted for a scenic drive through the mountains and a small hike at Red Rocks park. We followed the afternoon with a nice dinner at Jennifer & Scott's then called it a night so we could pack up for Monday's flight back to MI. All in all I had a great weekend with the girls and miss them already. Looking forward to doing it all over again when I head back to Michigan in July, only this time I'll bring some sunshine with me.
Thanks again ladies and see you soon!
